The beggar
Some centuries ago, in the Ottoman land, there was a hardworking student whose name was Hasan who was studying law and justice in Istanbul. Hasan wanted to complete his study as quickly as possible and start his important career. Finally, Hasan finished his study and graduated from Law School as the top student. Soon he was appointed to the court of Medina as a judge by the Sultan. Upon his way to Medina, he made a promise to God. He promised to give the biggest money in his pocket to the first person he encounters on the trip to Medina.
While he was walking to the train station, he came across a beggar in the street who asked him for money. He searched his pockets for change and found some Kurush (cents). The beggar did not accept the small money and reminded him of his promise; that is, giving the biggest money in the pocket to the first person who comes along. The young judge was shocked at the beggar’s words and kept his promise by giving him the biggest money, a gold coin.
Upon his arrival in Medina, with indescribable feelings, he rushed to Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) mosque to greet his grave and perform prayers. Unexpectedly, he noticed a sleeping man in the mosque close to the prophet’s grave. He considered this as disrespect to God’s messenger and woke him up by kicking his feet and telling him to get up.
